Cylinders for Mortice locks are available in different lengths to suit various door thickness and combinations:

• Double cylinders are equal length both sides of the cam.
• Asymmetric cylinders are unequal lengths either side.
• Thumb turn cylinders are available in a variety of shapes and styles.

The Cylinder body consists of the fixed body and the rotating plug which is turned by a key. It has a cam connected to the plug so that when the plug is free to revolve, turning of the key engages the cam in the locking mechanism enabling locking or unlocking to take place.
