The selection of the correct hinge is done according to the following:

• Door mass.

• Frequency of use.

It is essential for the specifiers to adopt certain principles in the process of selection:

• Has to be durable enough to last according to the duty required.
• Has to be suitable for the application it is fixed for.
• Has to suit opening requirements.
• Has to be strong enough to carry the door mass.
• Has to be robust enough to work efficiently.

For doors weighing over 20 kg it is recommended to fit three Hinges per leaf whilst using a door closing device places a greater load on the hinge therefore it is preferable to install an extra hinge beneath the top hinge.
